Entrepreneurship is a LIFESTYLE!

"Entrepreneurship is a lifestyle"
This is a phrase I learned recently from Dr. Choo (FICT Dean), Mr. Nicholas Chan (Venture Capitalist from Singapore), Mr. Junior (Young Entrepreneur) and Mr Daniel (Young Entrepreneur). We have meeting back to back these few days. The take away from these meetings are we have gain more knowledge, insights and "a reality call" about a life of an entrepreneur; we also got 6 projects that we can involve ourselves as university student into the real industrial and business world and we also can see how an entrepreneur life with his or her passion and enthusiasm! This is not just an event or just a project anymore. These are real life business, real life projects that they offered to us to take up, to fail or success, but most importantly to learn, gain experience and prepare ourselves to start up our own business in the NEAR future with their guidance and advices !!

Share another learning I learned from Mr. Nicholas.
K E E N
K = Knowledge
E = Exposure
E = Experience
N = Network

This are the traits or quality that we must have to be an successful entrepreneur, guys. (Note: I am not very good in explaining these four words) Knowledge does not means knowledge from books. The knowledge here meant, knowledge about a certain field, about the business world and many knowledge about ICT (if you venture in ICT field) etc.
Exposure means we need to be expose into the 'real stuff' instead of just dummy projects we are doing in university and everything are just theory. By stepping in the real world tasting the 'taste' of the real world, than we will have Experience. From here, I would like to share another thing I learn simultaneously.

We make good Decisions everyday.
And these good Decisions come from good Judgments
And these good Judgments come from GOOD Experiences
While these GOOD Experiences come from BAD Experiences

From bad experience we will learn from those drawbacks, thus making the right move and gather good experience!
Lastly, Network. I remember he saying network not that " Yeah! I have 5000 friends, 2 full Facebook Account!!" This is not the network he meant. Those are social network. The network he meant is the group of people who are able to offer mutual assistance among each other. (Note: Hope my definition is correct!)

LAST to share, experiences could make us less depend on luck. In short, "Experience reduces Luck!"

I am sure what I have shared above will not be the exact version what Mr. Nicholas said  during our sharing with him because I am still in a learning process from him, gathering my KEEN! Lolx! ^^
To all UTAR entrepreneurship members and also anyone who read this post, if you are interested to know more and sure that you have the commitment and courage to take up the life as an entrepreneur, please do add me or message me! I am sure I will be happily and willingly to share these opportunities with you all!

Chinese Cultural Night Fund Raising

I am Raymond Lee, the organizing chairman for Fund Raising during Chinese Cultural Night and this event is the second event organized by Entrepreneurship Society. Chinese Cultural Night was a success and a blast! It was crowded, happening and it was totally awesome!

Our society, Entrepreneurship society rented a stall with the Chinese Cultural Night’s party to sell our product that we called 水果葫芦~~~Wow, it’s actually very tasty and new for me since I don’t like to eat sweet stuff. It’s actually some fruit with some chocolate on top of it, imagine. With the freshness of the fruit, add on some sweet delicious hot chocolate, when the cold and the hot melt together in your mouth, it will also melt your tongue and heart together. YUMMY!!!

Other than the chocolate fruit, we also sold some delicious fruit tarts too. From what I have learned from Vincent, it’s called as a finger snack or finger food. My team and I were very busy selling our food as the crowd was fantastic and supportive! We are all exhausted in the end but satisfaction was in our heart! We really did enjoy ourselves during the event!

I would like to say thank you to my society’s chairman, Vincent for giving me this opportunity to learn, and also my society’s vice-chair, Jason for teaching me about the proposal and budget thing. Not to forget are my lovely and supportive committees - Xueli, Kathy, Mac, Sherry and Wai Sing for assisting me in making and selling our products. Furthermore, I also want to say thank you to our DSA officer Ms.Lai for her guidance.

Last but not least, I would like to thanks all my fellow friends and customers for supporting our society’s fund raising event! Joining this event was a good experience for me as I had learn how to be a better leader, how to collaborate with other team members and how to cope with difficulties that we might face in the future.

Vincent Ch’ng Winn Shern--- Chairman

IN the year of 1989, 29th of June, a male baby who was taught to study hard and get a professional job since young was born in Terengganu! At the age of 1, he experienced his first flying experience to Penang, and from there he have his primary school experience at SRJK Kong Ming and secondary school education (until Form 3) at SMK Chung Ling. Once again, he departed from Penang to Sabah to continue this secondary school education at SM All Saints! After SPM, this 17year old guy went to KL for his A Levels studies in Science. At this point, he was still under his mum's dream which is to go engineering line and he was a guy who is missionless, goaless and directionless. No movitation, no vision and no ambition!"

Basically, this is my story before the TURNING POINT in my life!
Wow, forgot to introduce myself after such a long story about me! My name is Ch'ng Winn Shern, or you can call me Vincent! I am 21 years old this year(29th of June). I am an Year 2 Entrepreneurship student who is University Tunku Abdul Rahman Perak! I am not the 'me' anymore compared to the story I shared above. It is almost 80% different! ! After reading the introduction above by few of our partners, I realize that we have an obvious similarity. My turning point in life is the moment, the day I finished reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Mr Robert Kiyosaki! This book changed my life, changed my mindset! This book inspired and motivated me to be a new CH'NG WINN SHERN where I start to self evaluate my performance often, set my goals in life, determine what I really want in life, even determined my course of studies (instead of Electronic Engineering, I managed to convince my lovely parents to allow me to take up Entrepreneurship)! I am a totally new HUMAN BEING after reading this book!
The story continues...
“This guy is now 21 years old. He is holding the position of Chairman for Entrepreneurship Society, Vice Chair for Young Entrepreneurship Society, and he has organized many events varies from small scale to mega events. And the main reason he got involved in all these extracurricular is because he want to practice and experience leadership, personal management, time management, team management and interpersonal skills! He also hopes that he can teach what he have learned, what he knows to those who are willing to learn! Life is a learning and teaching process.”
THE END ^ ^

What I want to be? What do I want in the future? I want to be the epitome of global excellence and I want to be an entrepreneur that could changes the lives of the world and also contribute to the environment. I WILL be a successful social entrepreneur that would contribute back to the society. I believe no matter how rich I am, how powerful or wealth I am, I will not be happy and satisfied as a human being until I contribute back sincerely to the society! I am fortunate that I have been offered a great body, great family, great life, great mindset and great opportunity to grow, to think and to be successful! To be honest, I am someone who is equipped with high self Esteem which I am sure that I will not misuse this self esteem! I have a vision that I will be THE ONE who could carve his name in the history of this world!

There is a concept that I always share with my friends through blogs, conversation, speech, msn, FB and whatever channel available. Life is just a piece of white cloth. And we are the artist or director of our own life. Everyone of us has our very own cloth which is call it 'Cloth of Life' and we are the one who will determined how we are going to decorate and design this Cloth of Life. I hope we will have no regrets when we view back this Cloth of Life when we are at the end of our lives. When I look through my cloth of life in the end of my life, I am sure I will see colourful designs and decorations on it! Therefore, I do hold this concept in me everyday which is 'Now or Never!!!' I realize that time does not stop for us to delay or waste. Time goes on and the world goes on even though we stop and do nothing! So I always urge myself and my friends through this phrase 'Now or Never'! It is either we do it now or we never have that 'moment' to do it because when time passed, it is not recoverable! So, when i am de-motivated, I will tell myself, it is either I do it now, or never!! This phrase really inspired and changes my life so I hope this phrase do motivates you! :)

Since young, I love to do things differently from the norms. I would like to introduce this newly invented word - pro-out-of-the-box-ness! Haha! I love to do things creativity and different from what people usually do! Maybe this is my expertise where I could come out with creative and innovative ideas when I am committed to it! I value creativity and innovation a lot! And I do believe these two components are essential to determine the success of a business that we might involved in the near future!

Of course, the most important component that will determine the success of a business is teamwork! When a team is not united, not motivated and not committed the any project whether is a small scale project or big scale project, there will be no positive or good outcome! I guarantee this statement because I have experienced it and saw it with my own eyes in the past. Teamwork!!! And I hope all of us could work well together as a team and make our project a success!

P/S: If i did anything wrong or any comments about my weakness or cons in my attitude, please do tell me! I am always open to positive criticism because I do believe that I will learn a lot from my mistakes!

I think I should come to an end because I wrote quite a lot already. I am sure all of us will learn from each other and we will make a great team! ^ ^

Before I officially end, let me share a few quotes that I like and a video link that I used it as my motivational tool!

FOCUS (I apply this in my life after I watch Donald Trump's video which I will share below! FOCUS is very important. We must FOCUS on what we are doing. When you are reading an email, FOCUS on reading it and ignore those msn nudges. When you having some enjoyable moment with your friends, FOCUS on enjoying those moments. When you are sleeping, put down all your worries, you obligations or anything and FOCUS on your sleep [but wake up on time! :P]

Macbryan Lim Bing Wang--- Committee member

Sometimes, we found ourself is hard to be understand as well as our personalities and characteristics. Though, this is the puzzles when I was still a young child. Today, I have realized myself pretty well and understand what I am always pursuit of.

I love adventures and funs. Thus, I venturing myself in the field of Entrepreneurship as this is an arena full of ambitious competitors and vague factors with ambiguous surroundings.

I always wondering how those rich people at the old times came from, and how do they get wealth. Though, that's obvious and everybody knows that  most of the reasons they are very initiative and hardworking. However, Welcome to 21st Century!

Today, people have various ways to achieve wealthness nowadays and that had already been made. They range from small business such as Plumbing fixture enterprises to Electronic Products enterprises with impressive income and earn themselve enough prosperity and prestige! So, I realised that the most important element to success is the sensitivity to the oppurtunities in the surrounding as any field of job could lead to us to the next Billionaire.

Who knows, for me, I will practising this mindset all the time and behold untill the last moment before I could bring my own dream to reality as I always want to own a big fish farm with monster fish in it.

My name is Lee Chee Khin,or you can call me Raymond. I'm a Y1S2 student of EN course now. I came from Ipoh and I'm 19 this year. For my life vision,I hope to be a richman that has the ability to control the market and certeain government activities.However,I'm a very lazy man,therefore,I would like to have a employer or partner to work with me(help me to take care of the business) so that I can relax and just collect money.^^

For my life mission,what I want to do in the future is,I want to create my own empire.As I said,I wish I had the ability to control the market,so I will try to have a wide product line,and I want it to be international well-known like Coca-Cola and popular like a Hollywood rock star.After I achieve this,it will bring me a lot of profit.Recall back from what Vincent asked me,if I have 1 million,how am I going to spent it,my answer is still the same.I will give it or spent it on my parents,because I don't think that I have the experience to use the money well now and if I used it to do some business,it will be wasting my time if I can't manage the business well,and finally if I have 1 TRILLION,I will donate half of it to the world.XD

For my future goal,actually I really don't have a future goal as I said,my plans never keep up with my changes,my hands never keep up with my brain.Therefore,for my current goal now,is to get more A in my exam and bring happiness to people around me. =)

My favorite quote is,

1."Where the heart is willing, it will find a thousand ways. Where it is unwilling, it will find a thousand excuses"

2."No general can fight his battles alone. He must depend upon his lieutenants, and his success depends upon his ability to select the right man for the right place"

3."The people that doesn't dare to try is more a loser than a people that fails"

Well,I hope you guys can understand me more based on the quotes.Hahaha

My wishes to see from EN society is...Our team has more teamwork and more great mission can be accomplished!!!

Extra information is,
If you're a good leader,I'll carried your backpack for you so that you can go faster.

Next Level Board Game Workshop (23-10-2010)

 Hello. I am Wai Sing, the organizing Chairman for Next Level Board Game Workshop 2010.

Firstly, I want to say thanks to all my committees for cooperating well with me to make our first Entrepreneurship Society’s event a true success. Although all of us was lack of experience since it was our first time organizing event, we did learn a lot from this event and enjoy ourselves!Let me give some brief explanation about what this next level board game is all about. .

Next Level Board Game is the FIRST business, entrepreneurship and finance board game, it allow players to experience what it is like to start your own business as compared to climbing the corporate ladder. Players will need to master financial tools such as insurance, investment, loans and their financial statement to survive in the game. Next Level Board Game is the more than just a game; it is a complete learning package every student should go through before graduating.

This workshop was conducted to teach students more in entrepreneurship mindset, financial literacy, soft skills and team spirit. We invited the creator of this board game, Jay Tiew Jin Jie to conduct this workshop. Jay was graduated from Multimedia University (MMU). He created Next Level Board Game and him also an author of “Why I Skipped Class”.

On the day of the event, participants arrived and everyone of them look excited and was looking forward to try out this new games! Our facilitator, My Jay welcomed all the participants warmly and started off teaching all of us the fundamental about this game. He taught us this game step by step. By having a job and by having business, we all faced different situation and problem to be solved.

When every one of us mastered the basics, we went into a full mode after our lunch break. Every one of them enjoyed themselves, laughter could be heard throughout the whole training room, priceless expression – stressful, cunning, worried, happy, delighted, acting and other expression could be seen in that room.

Mr Jay wrap up the whole event by explaining the meaning and hidden concept behind this game. One good example is insurance. From our game, we can see some of us would buy and keep insurance card so that we will be safe from being fired but some of us took risk but not buying it. As a matter of fact, those who bought insurance are safe from being fired but they spent money for it; those who did not buy insurance save money but they will be fired anytime in the game (in this game insurance card would protect you from being fired when you have a job).

Therefore, in life, buying insurance is important or not? Think by yourself!
Lastly, I would like say thanks to Entrepreneurship Society for giving me this opportunity to host this event. I do believe the things I learned from this event such as leadership, management, teamwork and all sorts of new skills will benefit me in my entrepreneurial pathway!

All the best to Entrepreneurship Society and thanks for reading my lengthy blog post
